Partnerships with Rural Rescues, Shelters and Pounds
MEOW Mission Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for felines within Central Missouri and to partner with other animal welfare organizations to keep felines out of the system and assist in finding permanent homes.
We have spent many years building relationships with other rescues, shelters and pounds in Central Missouri by working together to help more pets in the rural communities.
We fully understand the challenges, struggles and the needs of the pets that are in these areas because we ourselves have volunteered with animal shelters and rescues and have served on boards for these animal welfare organizations for many years. We have also seen first-hand the benefits that these partnerships do for these animals in helping them have "normal", healthy and happy lives.
We are continuing our partnerships with the animal welfare organizations that we have developed in the best way we can to help more felines. Our goals are to:
-
Fundraise to collect monetary donations and food from rescue food banks and collection sites to offer felines and their families within the service area that are going through hardships and who want to keep their pets or to caretakers of colony cats so they don't go hungry. This includes holding pet food pantries at pre-determined locations as resources allow each month.
-
Provide medical funding for medical emergencies for felines to low income and needy families.
-
Sponsor long-term cats in rescues/shelters within the service area to get them more visibility and network if requested to other larger licensed rescues as resources allow.
-
Offer education and training for successful TNR’s in rural communities and fundraise in order to provide much-needed funding to the animal welfare organization's to help give them a leg up in providing these services to stray and feral cats.
-
Offer resources to revise ordinances in municipalities for the protection of felines, owners and the trappers.
-
Serve as a resource to our community by providing information on pet ownership, including resources for spay/neuter and veterinary care. We believe that no cat should be mistreated or go hungry and are working towards the day when no animal is euthanized for lack of a home when resources are available.
-
Work with low-cost clinics and other veterinarians in the area to provide medical funding to low-income families in order to keep their pets. We will do fundraising to help accomplish these goals. Additionally, we will provide TNR clinics utilizing veterinary services to get the most felines fixed for the best price. We will partner with spay and neuter clinics within the service area and utilize the University of Missouri Veterinary Services mobile unit to do on-site surgeries.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! TOGETHER WE CAN HELP MORE!
